Energy Independence Conclusion

Now that we’ve learned some new things about energy and how it exists in many forms all around you, it is important to learn about the most powerful form of energy yet.  I’ll give you some clues to try and see if you can guess what it is.  Here goes:

It doesn’t power a house, buildings, cars, or airplanes.  You can’t see or measure it, even though you can feel it when it is near.  It is totally renewable and will never run out.  You don’t need a container to carry it around.  It isn’t produced by the sun, water, plants, wind, or gas. It costs nothing, but is more valuable than anything you can possibly imagine.  And once you have it with you, it will never leave.  Can you guess what it is?

The most important type of energy you can learn about is your own energy, the energy that comes when you are willing to act responsibly in your environment by making good choices.  There are many paths to sustainability, and it is up to you to decide which one you will walk.  Not all choices are right for each person, which is why it is important to make the choice for yourself.  What are the most important parts of your home, family, and community, and how are they connected to energy?  What can you do directly to make an impact in these areas of your life?  By making this important choice, you are celebrating your energy independence!
