INDYCAR, the governing body of the IZOD IndyCar Series, Firestone Indy Lights and Mazda Road to Indy, and GreenFuel will operate a program designed to reduce energy consumption at each IZOD IndyCar Series event and help define the series’ green initiatives into the future.

“Switching to 100 percent fuel grade ethanol in 2006 was the first step in INDYCAR’s commitment to leadership in eco-friendly racing,” said Terry Angstadt, president of INDYCAR’s commercial division. “Our partnership with GreenFuel gives us the chance to strengthen that commitment as well as strongly encourage our teams and corporate partners to join the cause. Through our green efforts we hope to inspire fans to make smart choices in their purchases and practices and to consider how their actions impact our planet’s energy resources.”

The partnership’s Race to Energy Independence program (R2EI), which will be introduced in phases, is based on educating INDYCAR’s network of fans, sponsors and racing teams on responsible, innovative, clean technologies.

Phase one will include a mobile educational facility and technology center where GreenFuel will host interactive kiosks capable of mapping a person’s environmental profile and offer energy efficient alternatives. GreenFuel will have the center at IZOD IndyCar Series events in Sonoma and Las Vegas, later this year.

“GreenFuel wants to introduce fans to technologies that reduce energy costs while minimizing their environmental impact on the planet,” said John Casey, CEO of GreenFuel. ”We are committed to building a better environment for ourselves and future generations. We believe the path to an ecological and economical balance lies in informed choices about renewable energy solutions.”

About GreenFuel:
GREEN FUEL Technologies commercial and residential divisions have installed more than 2 megawatt of solar electric systems in Arizona alone; and have over 20 megawatts of Solar Photovoltaic under development. GreenFuel’s team of industry leading financing, tax equity, renewable energy credits, and construction experts can provide turn-key project development for large scale renewable energy utility systems, multiple tenant retail space, small commercial facilities, and much more. GreenFuel’s goal is to develop unique and innovative energy solutions utilizing environmentally sound methods.

About INDYCAR:

INDYCAR is the governing body of the IZOD IndyCar Series, the premier open-wheel racing series in the United States, and Firestone Indy Lights, which serves as an essential stepping stone for drivers and teams striving to reach the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Mazda Road to Indy, a development ladder system for career-minded drivers who wish to compete in the IZOD IndyCar Series. INDYCAR events are available to a worldwide audience through a variety of multimedia platforms, highlighted by long-term and broad-reaching partnerships with ABC and VERSUS.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA INDY CAR RACE- Indiana Wild along with the R2Ei team gave an excellent consumer experience for the fans at the Indy 500 race this past weekend. Fans that came to visit the R2Ei trailer not only got great tips on how to conserve energy and become more energy independent, but also got photo ops with: Hopper- the kangaroo, Spike (porcupine), Betsy (boa), Murphy (macaw), and the two baby alligators, Louis Vuitton and Prada. The Brickyard definitely had more to offer this year than just its 100th anniversary of the race!

The majority of Indian Wild’s clients are childcare centers, schools, and libraries. Indian Wild also serves museums, scout groups, camps, churches, fairs, corporate events, and newly added to the list: INDY RACES! What a great way to educate attendees on the preservation of our beautiful wildlife. Plus, where else can you hold a baby kangaroo?!

R2Ei (Race to Energy Independence)
R2Ei represents a refreshing look at the world of energy. Showcasing all the sectors that contribute to what can ultimately evolve into a sustainable future.

R2Ei gives people an unbiased look at their current options to be part of the solution but to clearly understand the benefits to them as individuals. Energy, transportation, conservation, and responsible purchasing practices are represented in the way R2Ei engages, educates, and activates, consumers, business, schools, and Government facilities.

Currently, R2Ei is working with IndyCar to report to race fans the true energy efforts of IndyCar and it’s partnerships, while at the same time, introducing race fans to technologies that will reduce energy costs while minimizing their environmental impact.
